How can a tiny fluffy dog help Tampa Electric achieve its vision of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050?
(No, that’s not a joke, but the dog (Lollipop) generated lots of laughs at Winthrop Charter School in Riverview, Fl., for the 2022 Great American Teach-In.)
Tampa Electric’s Heather Santana, Jaime Bouton and Tiffany Bornfleth joined local author Kristy Bright at the school on Nov. 17 to showcase a children’s book by Lollipop – ahem, Kristy Bright – called Lollipop’s Great Adventures: Lollipop Learns How to Reduce Her Carbon Paw Print. Kristy and Heather collaborated on how to bring Tampa Electric’s energy-saving guidance for children to a wider audience. The book features cameo appearance by the Manatee Viewing Center. And could that character of Ian the energy auditor be inspired by our very own Ian Sprawls?
The audience, of course, lapped up every bit of it (and video of the day is proof).
Getting to 2050 could happen faster than we expect, and today’s children will be adults then, navigating a smarter-energy world. All along the way, smart energy choices will be critical, and every little bit of advice toward that end is valuable – even when it comes from a pocket-sized Pomeranian.
