Members of our Empowering Black Americans at TECO (EBAT) employee resource group (ERG) recently visited the North Tampa Success Center for a special Utility Industry Career Session. The special seminar engaged middle and high school students in conversations about energy, customer service and career pathways in the utility industry.
Dr. Shonda Flores, Principal of the North Tampa Success Center (NTSC), expressed deep appreciation for TECO’s involvement.
“Thank you so much for coming out and supporting our school. Our students and teachers were thrilled to have you here,” Dr. Flores said. “By seeing professionals like you, they begin to understand what TECO really represents – more than just a utility bill, but a company full of career opportunities.”

Shonda added that the visit helped students see the reality that Tampa Electric offers a wide range of career paths – from welders, electricians and mechanics to accountants and customer service professionals.
Tampa Electric team members Yashica Coley, Julie Ward, Gerald White, Donishia Jackson and Terrend Ross Jr. shared their personal experiences and demonstrated TECO’s strong commitment to preparing the next generation for success.
Thanks to our EBAT ERG for continuing to strengthen its presence in the community through initiatives like this, showcasing TECO’s belief in creating opportunities, inspiring young people and leading by example.
Students at the North Tampa Success Center were surprised to learn about the various career opportunities available at Tampa Electric.
