Tampa Electric has recently enhanced several energy-efficiency programs – improving some of its longtime favorites to help you save even more on your electric bill.
Tampa Electric has quadrupled the rebate for certain residential air conditioners, from $135 up to $550. Your unit may qualify when you replace your old, inefficient air conditioning system with a new, energy-efficient system that meets energy-saving requirements. Prime Time PlusSM is a free and easy way to earn credits on your electric bill, saving you money each month. Tampa Electric has recently doubled the program’s credits for air conditioners and water heaters.
Here’s how Tampa Electric’s Prime Time Plus program works.
- You allow Tampa Electric to temporarily turn off your heating and cooling, water heater and pool pump (if applicable) during periods of extremely high demand for electricity. Tampa Electric will notify you when this occurs.
- In exchange, you’ll earn monthly bill credits. Credits will vary, based on the equipment you choose to connect to Prime Time Plus. If you connect all three, you can save $21 a month, or $252 a year.
- A small control device used to communicate with your water heater and/or pool pump will be installed near the appliances.
- Tampa Electric will install a smart thermostat that includes access to a mobile app, letting you adjust temperature settings, set flexible scheduling and receive usage reports and reminder alerts, whether you’re home or away.
Prime Time Plus offers a way to help keep energy costs low for all customers. Peak demand can occur at any time, but it typically happens in the morning (winter months) or afternoon (summer months).
