Save time and money with Tampa Electric's Owner Allocation Program.
What is the Owner Allocation Program?
Tampa Electric’s Owner Allocation Program supports landlords and property managers by automatically reassigning electric service to the owner’s name when a tenant moves out or disconnects their service. This minimizes service disruptions, improves security and facilitates the property's cleaning and preparation for new tenants.
This means landlords and property managers
- Don’t have to call us each time a tenant moves out to open an account and have power connected
- Can maintain a consistent account number for ease of recordkeeping
- Have active electric service to maintain or show the property
- Maintain continuous power to important electrical devices like refrigerators, air conditioners and security equipment
- Accept responsibility for the electricity used until a new tenant establishes service
- Must notify Tampa Electric whenever they wish to change the agreement (i.e., discontinue, add or delete a property)
What are the program requirements?
To join our Owner Allocation Program, you must have
- A minimum of 10 active units at the same location (i.e., an apartment complex)
- A security deposit is required to enroll in the Owner Allocation Program.
- Your cash security deposit may be waived if you have an irrevocable letter of credit from a banking institution or a surety bond from an insurance company.
- The security deposit paid remains on your account until you terminate participation in the program.
- At least one active commercial meter at the property (i.e., leasing office, clubhouse, and/or laundry facilities).
- A service activation fee will be charged for each unit that has not previously had electric service, unless the unit is enrolled in our Owner Allocation Program. The fee will appear on the first bill.
- Owner Allocation Program participants will be charged $15 to turn on electric service if a same-day service connection is requested.
